Hamm Clinic Pubic Interest & Policy

Public Interest & Advocacy

Hamm Clinic works to remain informed of new and changing health and mental health policies, as well as an active and clear voice for persons with mental illness and disorders.

Our Public Interest and Advocacy Program goals are to:

  • Remain and grow stronger as a voice in the community for persons with mental illness, primarily, persons with the spectrum of illnesses that are treated at Hamm Clinic;
  • Improve public awareness of the broad scope of influence adult mental illness has on the community, specifically children, the workplace, and the quality of our lives;
  • Advocate for quality mental health evaluation and treatment in professional, community and civic arenas.

Currently, Hamm Clinic is:

  • Working on Minnesota State Advisory Council on Mental Health with other community mental health organizations to promote an integrated, accountable model of care;
  • Attending, monitoring, and testifying at legislative hearings on mental health related bills;
  • Monitoring the implementation of ICSI Guideline for Depression Care, participating in the DIAMOND Project, and advocating for best effectiveness based practices for depressed patients.
