Abby Dawkins, LICSW
Ms. Dawkins was elected as a member of the Hamm Clinic Board of Directors in December 2009. She became Vice President of the Board in 2011, and served on the former Planning Committee. In June 2012 Ms. Dawkins was elected Secretary of the Board and serves on the Development Committee and Board Graduate Education and Research Committee. Ms. Dawkins is a graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, MN and received her BA in English in 1960. Ms. Dawkins was a Hamm Clinic trainee in Clinical Social Work. She earned her Masters in Social Work in 1977 from the University of Minnesota and her LICSW in 1989. She has been a Certified Divorce and Child Custody Mediator since 1990, and has provided services to the Mediation Center at Hamline University since 1983. She has been in private practice since 1986 serving children, adolescents and adults. Ms. Dawkins provided individual, couple and group counseling from 1992-1997 with the St. Paul Police Department Employee Assistance Program, and case management work from 1987-1992 at the St. Paul Rehabilitation Center. From 1986-1988 Ms. Dawkins was a parent educator at Work and Family Resources, worked in Children’s Placement Services at Amherst H. Foundation from 1977-1986, and was the Clinical Director at Wilder Juvenile Horizons from 1983-1986. Ms. Dawkins has served on several Board of Directors, including Health Start, Face to Face Health and Counseling Clinic (President of the Board 1987-89), National Association of Social Workers, Minnesota Society for Clinical Social Workers, Planned Parenthood, Parents Anonymous of Minnesota, Home Services Association, Greater St. Paul Child Care Coordinating Council, Capitol Community Services and the Junior League of St. Paul. She is a member of Unity Unitarian Church and has been a volunteer with the elderly in their homes since 2004.
